Plato’s Phaedrus (370 BCE)

"This new technology will create forgetfulness because people will no longer use their memories; they will trust the external technology and not remember themselves. What you describe is not an aid to memory but to recall, and you give people not truth but the semblance of truth; they will hear many things and will have learned nothing, they will appear to know everything and will generally know nothing they will be tiresome company, having the show of wisdom without the reality."
